ABOUT THE SETTING //LITTLE PLUMERIA FARMS
There’s something refreshingly old-school Hawai‘i about Little Plumeria Farms. Set across 20 acres on O‘ahu’s North Shore, the family-run farm began in 1973 with founder Jim Little’s fascination with plumeria and has since grown into an extraordinary collection of rare hybrids. Today, three generations of the Little family continue the tradition, cultivating blooms in unexpected colors, shapes and fragrances. Visitors can stroll through the groves, learn a little about what goes into creating new varieties, and, on select tours, gather flowers to string into a lei of their own.
The setting — fragrant rows of plumeria, views toward Mount Ka‘ala and the North Shore beyond — does much of the talking. It’s personal, distinctly kama‘āina and truly authentic.
