Boy Scouts of Hawaii Distinguished Citizen Award

A crowd of superheroes gathered at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel and Resort on Aug. 3 for the Boy Scouts of America Aloha Council’s annual Hawai‘i’s Distinguished Citizen Dinner. As the “Superheroes Unite” theme suggests, boy scouts, families and loyal supporters (including Mayor Kirk Caldwell) gathered to honor one hero in particular: Dennis Francis, president and publisher of the Honolulu Star-Advertiser. Recognized for his noteworthy business and community leadership, determination and values, Francis graciously accepted the award as an audience of 700 scouts and supporters cheered him on.
