In commemoration of its 100th anniversary, Straub Medical Center held a groundbreaking ceremony last December for the redevelopment of its current health care campus. The redevelopment of Straub Medical Center is more than a campus rebuild. It will continue to position Straub as a healthcare leader into the next century and beyond.

Straub is actively planning improvements and innovations by transforming its current campus into a state-of-the-art facility for prevention, treatment, access and affordability. The redevelopment will be the largest undertaking of its kind by Hawai‘i Pacific Health.

“This really is an exciting time for Straub Medical Center,” says Art Glad- stone, Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer for Hawai‘i Pacific Health. “We continually envision the next century of health care, and this new health care campus represents Straub’s future. Our vision is to build a facility with flexibility that puts patients’ needs first.”

The new health care campus will nearly triple the center’s current 760,000 square feet. The multi-year project, which will culminate with the renovation of the existing Straub Medical Center and Strode Medical Building will offer a customized treatment environment, with larger patient and operating rooms.

New equipment and access to top-line technologies will result in greater efficiency, leading to shorter stays and reduced costs for patients. New design elements will also provide personalized solutions for patients whose circumstances need to be specially addressed.

“Leaving a positive impression on our patients is extremely important to us, because it allows us to build a relationship and earn their trust,” Gladstone says. “Our patients appreciate the personalized care they receive at Straub. It is just one of the reasons why so many of them have been with their Straub physician for years and their children and grandchildren are also patients of Straub physicians. It is very rewarding for our team to know that generations of Hawai‘i’s families have entrusted us with their health care.”

One hundred years and counting: It’s nice to know that the next generation of Hawai‘i’s families can also count on Straub.
