It’s been ranked as the busiest golf course in the world by Guinness, and now the Ala Wai Golf course is slated for a $50 million makeover that will bring with it high-tech, climate-controlled hitting bays, state-of-the art netting, a chef-inspired menu and other amenities to attract golfers and non-golfers alike. Topgolf Hawai‘i (a partnership between Topgolf USA, The MacNaughton Group and Kobayashi Group) will design, finance, operate and maintain the new facility. Topgolf boasts 41 locations worldwide, and the new venue is slated to have a rooftop lanai and play areas for children. topgolf.com

FANCY FOOTWORK

Ka‘anapali Golf Course offers up a new sort of round—FootGolf. The Billy Casper Golf-managed facility joined several across the country to offer this new program that engages players of all skill levels. How it works: players tee off (kick) a soccer ball until they make it to the 21-inch cup. Like golf, each hole is assigned a par. Players choose from 9- and 18-hole rounds starting at 4 p.m. daily.
