Colors Of Autumn

Party décor that allows you to celebrate fall without leaving the warmth of the islands behind.

Amber and reddish colors of the late summer and an early fall sunrise remind us of the land and sea we all love. Earthy tones, warm colors and light trade winds whisper that autumn in Hawai‘i is unlike autumn anywhere else. It is a gentle, nostalgic time.

Our recent corporate group event at the Royal Hawaiian brought these earthy colors alive. Table designs were created by layering fabrics over a shimmering copper underlay and a deep chocolate bark-inspired overlay. The texture of the overlay created the illusion of peeled bark on the tabletops. Birch containers were filled with varieties of fresh flowers in shades of coral, persimmon and deep pink. Pops of lime green and purple phalaenopsis orchids brightened the effect. With a nod to Hawaiian waters, we added ocean-inspired elements such as: pin cushion proteas (which created the illusion of sea urchins), as well as starfish and shells. A touch of moss balls added to the design as did crystal candleholders whose soft candlelight glow gave an amber hue to the tabletops.

Plates and dinnerware featured a fossilized leaf design all done in Italian glass. Each plate was wrapped with a shimmering copper napkin, topped with an anemone shell and a single blossom of a green cymbidium orchid.

Take inspiration from these color schemes and design your own autumn table with colors that catch the eye and capture this soft, gentle time of year.
