New jewelry and film elevates the famed designer brand

This fall, Chanel unveils Coco Mademoiselle: The Film starring Oscar-nominated actress Keira Knightley as a modern-day Coco Chanel – a mysterious and independent woman who takes destiny into her own hands.

“Coco Chanel’s strong personality, her bold temperament and her charisma were impressive,” states Knightley. “There was no one like her in the world, her impact went beyond fashion and transformed society by liberating women in both a real and figurative sense.”

Shot in five days in Paris, the short film is a congruent collaboration between Knightley and film director Joe Wright, a creative relationship that started with Wright’s directorial debut and Oscar-nominated film Pride & Prejudice, and continues with this fall’s debut of Atonement. The production was overseen by Jacques Helleu, who has guarded and nurtured the image of Chanel for 40 years.

In April 2006, Knightley joined the legendary league of women who have represented Chanel in global advertising campaigns, such as Nicole Kidman, Ali MacGraw and Catherine Deneuve for No. 5, Vanessa Paradis for Coco, and Anna Mouglalis for Allure Sensuelle.

In the new commercials for Chanel, Knight-ley is seen wearing some of Chanel’s newest fine jewelry selected by Wright and the actress herself. According to Chanel, the jewelry and the way it is worn underline Coco Mademoiselle’s spirit, especially the sense of modernity.

Featured here is a selection of Chanel’s fine jewelry for fall 2007, and will be available at the Chanel fine jewelry boutique in Waikiki. For more information, call 1-808-923-3555.
