Forget the blaze of a fire on a chilly evening that signals the first sign of a long winter. Experience another kind of warmth-the warmth of aloha in the sun-kissed environment of our islands.

Yes, it’s autumn in Hawai’i and we are here to celebrate the traditions of seasonal change; whatever those traditions hold for you. What better place to celebrate than at our own historic resort, The Royal Hawaiian.

Tickle all your fancies and look at our table setting, complete with pink accents that reflect the Royal’s “pink palace” theme. Note that traditional colors of autumn are woven into the table design. Tables are draped with shades of copper and green; colors that-when added to blue and purple-evoke images of the sea and sunset in the islands. Bursting forth from the table is our autumn-inspired tree. The 63″ tall metal tree is covered with a mass of hydrangea in shades of purple and blue. Natural branches, faux mini apples and long strands of pheasant feathers, mosses, candles and vintage-inspired pink birds add the finishing touches that stimulate the senses. Dinner plates are made from Italian glass with a fossilized leaf pattern. Linen napkins, with embellishments of curly willow and short pheasant feathers, complete our inspiration for autumn.

If you are dining at home, create your table setting from the look we have suggested. Add your preferred color palette and special touches that make your own traditions come to life. You will find everything you need in local craft stores; even faux fall leaves that look as though you gathered them on a walk in a park. Add local fruits and voila! you have food fit for a King (Kamehameha that is).

Add the joy of family and friendships and, in the spirit of autumn and Thanksgiving, give thanks for each and every day.
