Laka Spa Breaks HI Ground

Bright lights, Bustling crowds… it’s all part of the holiday buzz. However, rushing between shopping expeditions and soirees can get a little hectic. Fret not; the shiny new Laka Spa can ease the aches of this joyous season. By reaching across the pond, Laka is able to offer groundbreaking treatments popular in Asia, yet-until now-not available in a Hawai’i spa setting.

Owner Eiko Kim’s Asian spa treatments are similar to those she practiced while running a spa in Japan. After relocating to Hawai’i three years ago, Kim couldn’t find anyone versed in the specialized treatments she hoped to enjoy herself. Her solution? Open a spa.

In addition to massages and facials typical of Western spas, you’ll find specialists in reflexology and scalp massages, both of which can aid in reducing tension and improving circulation to nourish hair follicles. After a massage, you can continue to relax in the Onyx Detox Room, where you’ll lie on custom mats draped over a specially heated floor to further the release of muscle tension.

Among the most popular services are facials featuring Heliabrine Fruity Masks from glitzy Monaco, which utilize enzymes and vita-mins from strawberries, figs, oranges, grapeseeds and cacao. These facials are personalized to the needs of the client’s skin: deep cleaning, anti-aging or brightening.

However, it’s Laka’s exclusive Kogao Facial that’s sure to catch the fancy of even the savviest spa maven. This lymph drainage regimen breaks down fat deposits to help re-sculpt the face, giving it a firmer, slimmer, toned appearance.

Named after the Hawaiian goddess of hula and the forest, the spa represents all things rejuvenation, healing and celebration.

In keeping with this concept, the Laka experience doesn’t end with those specialty treatments. Once your service is complete, you’ll find the respite continues in the spa’s tatami room. Here, you’ll sip tea and nibble on a light snack. After recharging in this tranquil setting, you’ll feel refreshed and ready to tackle the holiday madness once more. u
