Is anyone else as excited as I am that Cat Cora will be at this year’s Hawai‘i Food & Wine Festival? If you haven’t picked up the August/September issue, Iron Chef America’s first female—also slated to heat things up at Aulani’sIt’s a Food World After All“—was featured in “Food Trippers.”

Here’s our extended Q&A with Miss Cat:

Q. How would you describe your cuisine?

I would describe my cuisines as Global with an influence toward Mediterranean.

Q. What is your favorite culinary discovery?

One of the most fun is liquid nitrogen, because I can wow my kids with ice cream in two minutes and lots of smoke and mirrors.  It’s fun and easy once you learn to work with it.

Q. Name one person (living or dead) that you would like to cook for.

The Dalai Lama, I am fascinated by him.  On my road to a more holistic well-being and a balanced lifestyle, I am drawn many spiritual figures and world leaders.

 Q. What are you looking forward to experiencing at HFWF 2014?

First being in Hawai‘i, I love it. If I could live with the family six months in Hawai‘i, six months in Santa Barbara, we would! And I love food festivals, so I think being with the other chefs, seeing ideas and connecting is always a bonus.
