Lucky number seven. Though I’m not a numerology advocate, I have to say, the events leading to this particular issue of HILuxury-our seventh anniversary issue-have been pleasantly serendipitous. From the rockin’ (literally and figuratively speaking) main features to the latest in golf, travel, cars and more, the stories you’ll encounter likely came together in the most unexpected ways.

Additionally, you might observe that the selection of topics and personalities is a touch more testosterone-infused than our usual lineup-completely intentional, of course, since this also happens to be our unofficial men’s issue. Whether you read Bill Mossman’s cover story on rock legends and Maui residents Willie Nelson, Mick Fleetwood and Michael McDonald; Ed Kemper’s take on the latest from Lamborghini (not to mention the return of the American muscle car); or our feature on some rather out-of-the-ordinary work professions and those who hold them-this issue has something for the CEO, adrenaline junkie and everyone in between.

On the personal front, the months during our anniversary issue’s production time have been as fortuitous for me as they’ve been action-packed. A few highlights in chronological order: an almost-surprise baby shower from the thoughtful folks at the office; going into labor the night of my last day at work before maternity leave; moving houses two days after coming home from the hospital. Hopefully, next time, two big life events won’t fall within days from each other. However, in that instance, condensing everything in such a short time frame worked out for the best-I was too busy to dwell on postpartum dilemmas and was kicking back in my new living room-angelic (at least as of press time) baby boy in my arms-well before I was expecting to unpack and feel settled. What can I say? I’m feeling lucky.
