It’s hard to believe that it’s been a decade since we launched HILuxury’s inaugural issue. So much has changed in this relatively short period of time, both here in Hawai‘i as well as the media sphere as a whole. We’re fortunate enough to literally see these changes throughout each issue of HILuxury that’s come out since 2007.

In this special anniversary issue, we highlight a few personalities who have also gone through an evolution of sorts over the years. Longtime golf commentator and Maui resident Mark Rolfing has gone from golfer to broadcaster to foster parent to cancer survivor … he talks with writer Ann Miller on his many successes (and tribulations) and discusses his latest project with Tiger Woods. Read cover feature “Project Next” on page 94 for more details.

Also in this issue, artist Kelly Sueda sits down with famed art dealer and gallery owner Irving Blum. Blum takes Sueda on a vivid trip down memory lane during his days with Andy Warhol and other big players in the realm of contemporary art. Turn to page 102 for a peek into Blum’s world in “The Importance of Being Irving.”

And while this issue introduces you to new faces, there’s a familiar face you’ll also come across. Former “On Trend” columnist, Molly Watanabe, makes a cameo for this issue and gives us her fashion two-cents.

Living in NYC, her New York State of Mind is clearly evident in her preference for pieces that’ll last longer than the seasonal trends. However, if you are in search of what’s hot for this particular summer, our fashion feature (page 110) will give you a few ideas to start with. Shot at the penthouse of Waiea at Ward Village, our swim spread takes summer styles to great heights.

Aloha and enjoy this latest issue!
