In a swirl of color, mermaid sirenity greeted 4-Year-old Taimane at Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach’s brand-new pool. The little wish kid, whose name translates to “diamond,” loves strawberry ice cream, going to the park, and most of all: mermaids! it’s been a tough time for Taimane—who suffers from spina bifida—and her family as they deal with her illness, so her fantasy afternoon at the pool was a welcome respite.

“Taimane went through a lot: so many hospital visits, so much sickness, it really was painful to watch her go through it,” Taimane’s mom explains. “our family has been coping with this by just coming together and taking care of her. We take it one day at a time.”

Taimane was definitely treated to a gem of a great time with mermaid sirenity. Taimane was fitted with her own purple (her favorite color) mermaid tail, and she spent the afternoon with mermaid sirenity, reading books, laughing and playing in the water. All the fun was a watery prelude to Taimane’s wish: meeting her favorite mermaid, Ariel, at Disneyland. Soon after her visit with mermaid sirenity, Taimane and her family were off to the happiest place on earth to meet Ariel.

“The most memorable moments were seeing my babies’ faces as they explored and saw so many different places and characters,” Taimane’s mom says. [This wish experience] has brought me and my family close[er]. We’ve experienced something we never thought we would.”

Here’s hoping Taimane and ariel were able to share some strawberry ice cream!
