Suite seductions abound at Four Seasons Resort Maui.

The emblematic luxury refuge for the posh getaway gang has undergone a revamp, and not that it needed one. in late 2016, Four Seasons Resort Maui in Wailea unveiled new suites reflecting an elegant, pared-down aesthetics that deeply engage with the guest and the natural beauty that surrounds.

The fluid, modernist spaces were reimagined and brought to fruition by Wimberly Interiors, who were the original designers for the luxury resort. From the closet layout, shelving units and furniture design, subtle but well-studied shifts provide better ergonomics for guest comfort. Flexible floor plans even allow for multiple room reconfigurations or antechambers for high-profile guests requiring the utmost security or privacy.

The collection of artwork, curated by Julie Cline and sourced from artists who have lived or worked in Hawai’i, conveys serenity and coherence with the overall design of the spacious suites. Graphic textiles by Eskayel Design and the room’s earthy palette with understated pops of sienna and baby blues seamlessly extend to the soft, golden views of Wailea shores.

The suites offer guests access to the club lounge, which feels like a home within the hotel. Guests are pampered with concierge assistance, meal services and bar service. There is also a well-curated library because literary indulgence is part of a well-rounded vacation. But the boss of all amenities would be the Unforgettable Experience personal concierge for customized, bucket-list level itineraries.

To start, the team dreamed up a few ideas offering the best of experiences unique to Maui. For example, a photo adventure with fine-art photographer Daniel Sullivan takes you to the most stunning sceneries on the island to capture beautiful, artsy souvenirs. Equipment is provided, and so are valuable lessons to sharpen your eye and composition. Can’t wait to humble brag about your new-found photo skills on social media? No worries, the transportation is Wi-Fi equipped and ready to help stir up a little Instagram envy. Offered seasonally, a whale-watching and photography adventure with the Cesere brothers promises a fantastic excursion with two of Maui’s top whale experts and underwater photographers.

Other ideas include the resort’s much-coveted Serenity Pool available from dusk to dawn for private celebrations. Whether you want to drape the pool with romantic, tropical blooms or merely enjoy a quiet dinner and an evening dip, the space is transformed to suit your fancy. But if your wishes prove sky high, they got that covered, too. Get whisked on a helicopter tour of the Big Island, which include a bean-to-cup experience at a coffee estate in Kona, and an aerial tour of Hamakua Coast, volcanic lava flows and sea cliffs upon return to Maui. Another chopper-worthy escapade is a rigorous Hana tour with a lunch stop at Hana Ranch for an exquisite meal prepared by executive chef Craig Dryhurst and Hana Ranch chef Gary Johnson with optional wine pairing.
